Councillor Robert Llewelyn Jones declared a personal interest in Item 4 on the agenda, as he was acquainted with one of the applicants.

The draft minutes of the Selection Panel’s previous meeting held on 21 June 2019 were confirmed as correct.

To consider adoption of the following:-

 

“Under section 100(A)(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, to exclude the press and public from the meeting during discussion on the following item on the grounds that it may involve the disclosure of exempt information as defined in Schedule 12A of the said act and in the attached Public Interest Test”

RESOLVED to adopt the following:-

 

“Under Section 100(A)(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, to exclude the press and public from the meeting during discussion on the following item on the grounds that it may involve the disclosure of exempt information as defined in Schedule 12A of the said Act and in the attached Public Interest Test.”

To conduct interviews for the roles of Independent Members of the Standards Committee

To submit a report by the Head of Function (Council Business)/Monitoring Officer.

Minutes:

Submitted - a report by the Head of Function (Council Business)/Monitoring Officer on the interview process for shortlisted candidates to be appointed to the four vacant seats for independent members of the Standards Committee.

 

The Chair welcomed each candidate to the meeting and introduced the Panel.  She gave each candidate an overview of the role, and explained the appointment process.

                       

The candidates were considered against the criteria outlined in the report, and interviews were conducted by the Panel.

 

RESOLVED:-

 

  That the Panel selected a maximum of four candidates for appointment to the roles of independent members of the Standards Committee.

  That a report be submitted by the Chair of the Panel to the Full Council on 10 September 2019, ratifying the decision undertaken by the Selection Panel, to nominate the four successful candidates as new members of the Standards Committee. 

  That the Chair of the Panel recommends to the Council, that the fifth candidate be automatically appointed to any casual vacancy for an independent member of the Standards Committee, if such should arise in the next twelve months.
